Signs Youre Working with a Good Recruiter

Signs Youre Working with a Good RecruiterSigns Youre Working with a Good RecruiterToday, in 2018, it is harder than ever to find a good recruiter. I want to emphasizethe word good because it is in no way difficult to find a recruiter. In fact, there are too many recruiters. According toIBISWorld, there are over 300,000 recruiters in the United States alone. Sadly, only a small percent of those are good recruiters. This purpose of this article is to expand upon my previous LinkedIn postSigns youre working with a good recruiter.I will explain what a recruiter isand exactly how to identify a good recruiter for your job search. What is a recruiter?A recruiter is defined by Dictionary.com as, A person whose job is to enlist or enroll people as employees of an organization.Given that basic definition, just about anyone can call themselves a recruiter. All they have to do is enroll someone as an employee of an organization. The recruiting industry has become a popular entry-level job for colle ge graduates. Somebody decided one day that it would be a great idea to have inexperienced individuals screen the experienced individuals. This has caused a ton of headaches for job seekers. So, to help, I am going to tell you what to look for in a good recruiter. behauptung 5 signs youre working with a good recruiter will save you time, energy, and a ton of frustration.A good recruiter is responsiveA good recruiter responds to job seekers who send them messages. Plain and simple. When somebody is personally reaching out to you asking for help, when did it become okay to totally ignore them? Its so easy to hide behind LinkedIn. Most of the behavior seen on LinkedIn would never happen in person. If a homeless person walked up to you and asked you for change, you would at least tell that person no. Give a job seeker more respect than a homeless person and at least respond with a polite Sorry, I cant help you.A good recruiter reads resumesA good recruiter actually looks at the resumes su bmitted (Crazy, right?). This bizarre concept of reading resumes instead of parsing them through Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is rarely applied.Since recruiters are often inexperienced in the industry they are recruiting for, its impossible for them to understand your resume. They are looking for resume keywords. If you do leid have the correct keywords but you have synonyms for all the same words, you just got passed up. Better luck next time.A good recruiter offers adviceA good recruiter like the supply chain and logistics recruiters at Scope Recruiting offeradvice before you attend the interview. Its not just a recruiters job to make an introduction and get you an interview. A good recruiter is going to take the time to prepare you for the interview.More often than not this recruiter has a relationship with the company and hiring manager. He/she will know what the interview is typically like, what the hiring managers personality is like, and more. If your recruiter does not o ffer this insight up front, dont be afraid to ask them for it.A good recruiter provides feedbackA good recruiter provides feedback to candidates they reject. This seems pretty self-explanatory but is sadly one of the most uncommon practices in recruiting. It would be impossible for a recruiter to provide specific feedback to everyone who applies for the job. So, when I say they should provide feedback to everyone they reject, I do not mean if you simply fill out the application. Sometimes 300 people will apply for a job. Dont expect much more than a templated Unfortunately, your skills did not align with what we were looking for. However, a good recruiter is going to provide you with feedback after your interviews. Whether it was a first round phone interview or a final round face to face, it is absolutely unprofessional for a recruiter to leave you in the dark after an interview.A good recruiter = new jobA good recruiter is your advocate and your flugticket to a new job. People who t hink recruiters are useless just havent met the good ones. Recruiters do help people find jobs. In fact, I am personally associated with a few great recruiters who helped me land amazing jobs in the past (some at Fortune 50 companies).A good recruiter has integrity, cares about others, and does not follow the norms of the unfortunately broken recruiting industry.

U.S. Attorney exits job to cheering crowds, living the dream of every fired employee

U.S. Attorney exits job to cheering crowds, living the dream of every fired employeeU.S. Attorney exits job to cheering crowds, living the dream of every fired employeeAnyone who has seen a friend fired, or been fired himself, dreams of only one thing a recognition of ones heroic contribution to the job.Today, U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara lived that dream. The well-known prosecutor used his office to fine Wall Streets biggest insider traders. Last week, however, Bharara was asked to resign along with over 42 other attorneys general. Such turnover is common with a new administration, but unusual in Bhararas case since U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions reportedly told him his job was safe.Bharara says he was fired after refusing to quit, and other stories indicate he was working on investigations that may have embarrassed the White House. What is indisputable, however, is the remarkable theater of his exit. One thing you can say Preet Bharara does not go out like a punk. The scene is re markable. In a moment worthy of the finest Roman emperors, Bharara emerges from the doors of the U.S. Attorneys office to a crowd of emotional, cheering colleagues.Bhararas exit indicates the size of his loyal army, standing behind police barriers, as they would for a parade. As Bharara walks down the steps to great members of the clapping, smiling crowd, bagpipes play behind him.Yes, bagpipes. This isnt the usual sad office party with goodbye cupcakes and limp balloons. Its all very much the image of the conquering hero, and the symbolism is all too clear Bharara intends to hold his head high, and his former employer should worry. What are Bhararas thoughts during this epic (and very staged) exit? We may never know. Bharara savvily refuses to ruin the iconic moment with words. To cries from reporters of Mr. Bharara Preet Preet he dismisses the cameras, turns his back and walks into the warm embrace of his appreciative colleagues.Bhararas exit today reminds us of one of the best workpl ace exits of all time That of Peggy Olson from Draper Price in militrischer abschirmdienst Men.The lesson is clear No matter what your job - whether youre an advertising associate or a leading light of the Department of Justice - always try to go out in style.

What to do if youre waiting (for anything)...

What to do if youre waiting (for anything)...What to do if youre waiting (for anything)...Waiting sucks. And its really hard. Especially if the thing that youre waiting for is something that you REALLY want. In the waiting, all of yur biggest fears can take hold of your imagination. So too can all of your greatest fantasies. Each has endless time to play out (and drive you nuts). Its really tough to be in that distributions-mix of suspension and not get too obsessed with what might not happen, or what might. And its easy, so easy, to go down either rabbit hole. The former can cause dread and anxiety over things that havent even happened and may never even turn out as badly as you think. All your lost sleep is preemptive and a waste. The latter, fantasizing about getting what you want, can easily create unhealthy attachments that dont leave you open to the life in front of you, or the new paths opening up that might be different than what you think that youre waiting for.So what do you do then? When youre waitingWell, as someone who has muscled my way through a lot of waiting, I can tell you that not driving yourself crazy in the waiting is way easier said than done. But its doable. And truly, were always going to be waiting for something. Here are a few things Ive found that can keep you feeling like you while youre waiting for something else to happen, to show up, to occur, to be answered, to end Continue to choose yourself. Be and do all the things that help you love you while youre waiting.Remember that the answer to whatever youre waiting for wont fix you, make you, or change you. As happy as you are right now in the waiting, is relatively similar to the levels of joy youll feel once the waiting is through. Sit with that for a minute.Connect, deeply. We can create such turmoil when were in our heads rather than in our lives. Connecting with your humans is a beautiful way to get out of that and back into what actually matters.Quit strategizing. And be present . The answers, the outcomes, theyll reveal themselves to you eventually. And once youve said all you can say, youve done all you can do, youve showed up then you must minimize how much youre preoccupied with what youre waiting for and just trust. Because you can handle it all good or bad.Good things can take time, so much time. So let life unfold. Dont force it. And find beauty in the bliss of waiting, even when it feels like hell and is driving you crazy.Remember, youre developing a beautiful strength. The kind that can only be learned from the in between. This article was originally published on MaxieMcCoy.com.

Johannes Gutenberg

Johannes Gutenberg Johannes Gutenberg Johannes GutenbergThe significance of Johannes Gutenbergs (Circa 1398 1468) contributions to printing and their impact on greatly expanding opportunities for literacy and learning, particularly among lay people, cannot be overstated. In fact, some assert that no invention in the history of man has had a greater influence on society than the introduction of printing in the 15th century. Contemporary commentators say his work led to an information revolution that can be likened to what has happened with the development of the www today.Universally recognized and credited with inventing the printing press, Gutenberg actually aggregated a number of inventions and processes to make mass-production of printed books economical for both printers and readers. Other individuals in other countries were known to have been developing a printing press, but key to Gutenbergs work welches not only the development of a process for mass-producing movable type but also the use of good quality oil-based inks. Unlike standard water-based inks, the new oil-based inks could easily transfer from metal to paper. Those were melded with the adaptation of a wooden oil or wine screw-type press for printing.Prior to the use of movable type, books in Europe were typically handwritten manuscripts while paper money, playing cards, posters, and the like were block-printed from hand-carved wooden blocks, inked, and transferred to paper. Gutenbergs movable type involved metal letters at the end of a metal shaft that could be produced in quantity, arranged, and moved around so that mistakes could be corrected easily, and the type could economically be reused forthe next project. Both of the earlier methods of reproduction were expensive and time-consuming. The combination of movable type, oil-based inks, and a workable press revolutionized European bookmaking and spread rapidly across the continent and later the world.Little is known about Gutenbergs early li fe, even the exact year of his birth, or his adult personal life. Biographers do not agree on the nature of his early training Some say he began focusing on mechanical arts at a very young age while others say he welches trained as a stonecutter and goldsmith. What is known is that he was born just before the turn of the 15th century in Mainz, Germany, and moved to Strasbourg in the early 1430s, where he made a living as an inventor, coming up with a new technique for polishing gemstones, making mirrors for pilgrims visiting holy sites and other projects that he kept under wraps, which could have been experiments leading to his printing process. He remained in Strasbourg for about a decade before returning to Mainz. There is little information for about a decade but it is believed this is the period when he began experimenting with printing single sheets of paper and small books before beginning work on his famous Bible around 1450. The skills he developed during his time in Strasbou rg and his work with metals undoubtedly were valuable in developing a metal type suitable for printing, believed to be an alloy of lead, tin, and other metals that would melt at low temperature, cast well, and yet be durable when in a press. His major work, the Gutenberg Bible, was completed by 1455 and sold at the Frankfurt Book Fair that year. The process to produce them had to have been extended and labor-intensive because some 300 different pieces of type are used to print the Bible. These first copies that were immediately recognized for their high aesthetic and technical qualities were expensive, costing several years salaries for the average working man. However, the effect of the process was to allow mass production and cut the costs of books, making information readily available and easily accessible to a broad segment of the population. In the beginning, most books focused on religious topics. As book printing spread to incorporate a range of topics, the impact of Gutenbergs work was recognized as instrumental in laying the groundwork for a modern knowledge-based economy and participation by the masses. Gutenberg himself did not reap great benefits. In fact, a legal document dated 1455 indicates that a wealthy business partner sued him for the return of monies loaned. This money was likely used in developing his process and printing the Bible. He lost the suit and is believed to have had to turn over some of his printing equipment. elend much else is known about the rest of his life except that he was given a pension by the Archbishop of Mainz and lived in his hometown until his death in 1468.Nancy Giges is an independent writer. In fact, some assert that no invention in the history of man has had a greater influence on society than the introduction of printing in the 15th century.
